In Bridge (Windows) 'Folders' pane, right-clicking a folder other than the currently selected folder and selecting "New Folder" creates the new folder in the wrong place. It's been like this for years. Any chance of getting this fixed, please?

I see what you are talking about. What is happening is, despite the folder you are right-clicking on in the Folders panel, the new folder is being created in the currently viewed folder in the Content panel. I don't think this is necessarily a bug, but probably working as intended. I'm going to change this to a idea/request.

That's great, but if it's working as intended then it's not very logical.

If you do the same thing in Windows Explorer, it creates a new folder in the folder you're clicking on.

In Bridge, if you right-click and select Delete instead, it deletes the folder you're clicking on, not the one currently selected. So there's no consistency.

As a result, I always select a folder in Bridge before right-clicking it, as I am nervous that the action will impact the wrong folder. Not good.

...and, at the risk of labouring the point, right-clicking another folder actually highlighlights it too. So, from a usability point of view, you'd expect the action will apply to the highlighted folder.

Right. I'll go back in my box now. ;-)

I've got a question on your assertion. If I right-click on a folder in Windows Explorer (checked XP and 7) or Mac Finder, I don't have an option to create a new folder.

Would you be able to post a screen shot showing how you are able to right-click a folder in Explorer and create a new folder?

Sure. Here, the "Compact" folder was selected, and I right-clicked the DSLR folder, then clicked New > Folder, typed a name, and the folder was created under DSLR. It's been like this as long as I can remember.

Fixed in CS6. Not patch for previous versions.
