Lightroom Classic: Local adjustment tool effects lock

Often when editing an image I use two or more local adjustment tools. For example when editing a portrait I will go between an adjustment brush for skin softening and a circular gradient for a custom vignette. When I swap between tools the selected effect/setting stays the same regardless of the tool. So if I just did a skin soften and swap to the gradient tool it starts with a skin softening setup.  I would love it if each tool remembered it's own last used effect/settings so that when I choose the adjustment brush it goes back to "Soften Skin" effect and when I go to a gradient tool it goes to "Darken"

I'm unlikely to use a gradient with a "soften skin" or "teeth whitening" effect or an adjustment brush with a "darken" effect. When editing a lot of portraits it gets a bit wasteful of time having to go into the Effects drop down to change every new image.

So maybe a little padlock control to lock a tool to its last used settings rather than the previous tools settings. That would be great :)

You are correct that the tools will not remember their last setting, however when you switch from one tool to another if you click new, at least the tool that you pick after that will revert back to its own default setting so as not be the same as the previous tool you were using

Cheers Fred, I was aware of that feature. It’s handy but doesn’t alleviate my issue when changing tools. I’m hoping the padlock which is used all over Lightroom can be added to the adjustment tools
