Lightroom: too many items in one topic

1. MOST NEEDED IMPROVEMENT: Allow us to mark an image as “Do NOT republish”! If I have published an image, for example to Flickr, and then make some adjustments to it afterwards, LR assumes that I want to republish it. I DON’T!! For example, let’s say I want a specific watermark on the images (NO, I do NOT use the LR watermarking system which doesn’t allow enough flexibility on a per image basis... see below. I add my own in PS but would much rather stay in LR) that I put on Flickr, but then afterwards I want to remove it or add something else, LR forces it to be added to the “republish” list. This wouldn’t be too bad until I get to my next image that I will eventually publish to Flickr. I can’t publish that second image without “republishing” the previous image, which I don’t want to do. Let US be the ones to determine if an image needs to be republished or not. Even if you feel strongly that it should be the default setting, at least give us the option of right-clicking and marking it as “do not republish at this time” or something like that.

2. I LOVE the way you can have multiple graduated filters and adjustment brushes layered on top of each other. Please make that available to multiple vignette’s too.

3. Speaking of vignettes, please allow us, like they do in Nik Silver Efex Pro 2, to place the center of the vignette. I would love to have multiple vignettes layered in which I can assign the center of each.

4. Allow for more options in the graduated filters. Allow for a light/dark/light or dark/light/dark option for example. Or let’s just set a new bar in graduated filters and make a graduated filter that has NO adjustment below or above it (for example perhaps I want to lighten the water below the horizon but not have any impact on what’s above the horizon. Can you add something like a “stop” line of some sort?). Or perhaps a shaped filter where I can draw the line instead of a straight line. Circles? (Yes, I know that I can do that one with an adjustment brush, but the option of using a graduated filter would be cool).

5. Improve the watermarking ability so that I can EASILY change the size, color and placement of a text watermark on specific images. For example, in image A I would like it at the bottom right, but in image B I would like it in the center and to be dark red instead of white, etc... In my specific case I use various colors, and placed it in different areas depending on the color and needs of the images. There are many times that I can process the entire image in LR and the ONLY reason I go to PS is to add the watermark. Then, to add insult to injury, if I haven’t quit LR at that point and return to LR from PS, I will often lose all my LR adjustments!

6. Add both blacks and vibrance to the adjustment tool!!! Why aren’t they there already? Silly.

7. In the Print module please improve the cell placement and identity placement tools. Why can’t I center a cell? Or for that matter copy and paste cells, left or right adjust cells, or virtually do anything other than simply draw one out by eye? I love your “print to file” feature but would really appreciate better formatting.

This feedback site works best when you post each idea in a separate topic, so people can vote on and discuss each independently.

As for (1), some publish services allow this via the Plug-in Extras menu(s).

1. UnmarkForRepublish.

2|3. Good idea. In the mean time, I often just use a brush for vignetting - that way the "vignette" can be shaped any ol' way...

4. You can get the effect you want now just by using multiple grads. i.e. for light/dark/light, just use a dark/light then overlay a (shorter) light.

6. Its a design/performance thing, not an oversight... That said, many of us are hoping for more locals in Lr4 - go here to cast your vote: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...

Just one feature for me, Control Points like in Viveza.
No, the local adjustment brush isn't equivalent.
