Lightroom v4 DNG v6.6 Codec not updated for Thumbnails in Windows Explorer

Adobe Lightroom v4 allows you to EXPORT DNG as version 6.6, but Adobe DNG Codec is version 5.6 only! So obviously the DNG thumbnails FAIL to display in Windows Explorer on Windows 7, etc...

Obviously, Adobe needs to update their DNG Codec to version 6.6, so as to support Lightroom v4. When will that happen? We are all waiting.

labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Codec (DNG Codec is v5.6).

Better yet, why doesn't Lightroom v4 just provide the appropriate DNG codec to be included for everyone using Lightroom v4 on Windows? So as to display DNG thumbnails without jumping through hoops?

In fact, how about a collection of "Camera Raw File Formats" to be supported for Lightroom, instead of buying additional support from www.fastpictureviewer.com that allow Windows Explorer to see them as Thumbnails? That would be very useful for ALL of us.

Adobe also doesn't provide Windows codecs for PDF (64-bit), PSD or PSB, and it doesn't provide PSB previews/thumbnails on Mac (Apple provides previews for PDF and PSD).

@John, you skipped over the Fact Adobe does provide DNG Codec for Windows 32/64bit as I linked above with labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Codec

The problem was and remains to be the WRONG version is provided to support Lightroom v4 when photos are exported as DNG version 6.6! Because, Adobe provided version 5.6 instead.

@Dorin, turning off the fast load will NOT resolve the missing DNG Codec for v6.6 that is needed to display the thumbnail previews.

I was just observing that Adobe doesn't seem to put much effort into codecs. It used to provide PSD codecs for Windows but stopped a number of years ago. So the lack of an updated DNG codec is just part of the larger pattern.

@John, Well, thank you for the clarification regarding your shared thoughts about Adobe's larger plan.

If that is true, that would be a BIG mistake to NOT support their product/s to function in the Windows environment. Clearly, Adobe already has the DNG codec, it's already in Lightroom v4, but their DNG Codec v5.6 that is provided for Windows 7 32/64 bit is missing support for v6.6! This should be so easy to remedy, right?

How to extract the DNG codec from Lightroom and then update their DNG Codec "dngcodec_r2_042711.exe" file or create a new file so that Windows will know how to display the Adobe DNG thumbnails as previews?
