Lightroom - Unify folders and collections

I think it is a shame that we cannot use a unified folder+collection structure. Aperture as managed to do this : their is one structure, each image belong to a unique “project” (think as disk folder), but you can put multiple instance of it everywhere (albums/collections).
In LR, I have to use folders because:
– I have to manage the storage
– I you have images in “Project folder 1′′ and “Sub Project 1.1′′ inside, you can click on “Project folder 1′′ and see all the images if you are using folders. With collections, it is not possible. (Useful for project / sub project or date organisation)
But I like collections too, because you can use multiple instances of a single image + smart collections.
So I am stuck with 2 structures to manage instead of a single smart one like in Aperture.
