Lightroom: spot removal with overlapping gradient produce unexpected result

first, i used the spot removal tool to remove a recessed light fixture from a white ceiling. that worked normally. next, i used a darkening gradient that overlapped the spotted area where the recessed light fixture used to be. the result is a medium gray oval where the light fixture used to be. i can provide screenshots if needed. it seems that this may just be a display problem, because it is resolved when in the develop module but reappears in grid view or the view mode accessed by hitting the "E" key.

i am using lightroom 5.2 on a mac pro running mavericks.

In Loupe view, if you zoom into 1:1, does it fix itself?

unfortunately, i cannot answer that question because, interestingly, i am not seeing the same behavior today. image looks correct in loupe view this morning. perhaps it took lightroom a little while to generate a preview that incorporated the adjustments? thanks anyway!
