Lightroom SDK: Create virtual copies.

At present, a plugin can not create virtual copies. I would like to be able to write plugins that create virtual copies, for a variety of reasons, including plugin synchronization of proprietary xmp-like info, i.e. if plugin has saved proprietary xmp-like file, which includes a new virtual copy, that info can be applied to the catalog by plugin, including virtual copy creation.

I can see a use for that. One of my favourite plug-ins is Snapshotter (http://photographers-toolbox.com/prod... ), which creates Snapshots from VC's, but I'd love for it to be able to do the reverse too.

That would be cool. I'd consider using snapshots then... :)

As a workaround until better supported in SDK, here's a recipe for creating virtual copies from a plugin:

One of my few complaints about Lightroom is the horrible 3rd party plug-in integration. Having to launch Photoshop to use a plug-in to fill in a GAP or select an image then go to the File Menu and export it to the plug-in is just wrong.

On top of being able to use plug-ins froms a right click they should be able to create a virtual copy or PSD in the original location of the export to them and have it automatically show up just like photoshop can do (minus the virtual copy).

SnapToCopy (@v2.0) supports creation of real or virtual photo copies from snapshots.
