Lightroom: Problems importing a book into an other existing catalog

Try to import my books created on a laptop (Win7, 64bit, LR4.1) into the existing catalog on my desktop (Vista, 32bit, LR4.1).
Special:
* The exported catalog alone looks just right on my laptop and on my desktop
* Importing the book works fine - pictures are present, collection is present - the book is displayed, but without or only some of the pictures.
* When the pictures are already present, then each picture in the book gets a little sign that says that there is an error with writing the metadata.

I've done a bit of book moving between my home and office computer and haven't noticed any problems yet (even if was looking for them).

Can you provide a step-by-step instruction?

Here's what I am doing:
* Right click on the collection and export as catalog
* I exported with and without negatives - does not matter for the outcome.
* I transfer the directory with the catalog to the other computer (over the network)
* I click on the catalog and open LR -> everything is fine.
* I close LR
* I open up the other (fairly large catalog)
* I use File -> Import from an other catalog
* I choose the book catalog and use only import metadata
---> The book is not displayed properly.

Just tried it with an other (large) catalog on a external drive hooked up to the laptop. Again, the same import behaviour. It definately is not a Win7/Vista or 64/32 bit issue.

Yes, the procedure is right and the book should transfer correctly. AT least, the same procedure works for me.

Max, try deleting the book from the target catalog before importing to your desktop. In this case, Lightroom will not have to merge anything, just import the book anew. That might help to avoid some possible import bugs.

Thanks Dorin.
I did clear the book from the target catalog - I also tried with or without having the pictures in the target catalog. Both had no influence on the import results. Really strange.
