I am speaking to a user thinking of switching from Picasa to Lightroom, and the major thing stopping them is the lack of a plugin that allows direct uploading from Lightroom to Picasa website.

So on behalf of all current Picasa users the world over, I humbly submit that Adobe consider developing a plugin for uploadig to Picasa.

Hi Photographe,

Have you tried Jeffrey Friedl's Export to PicasaWeb Lightroom Plugin?

I haven't tried it, but I doubt it would have much influence on someone considering switching. People like to know it's built in. Maybe Jeffrey can prevail upon Adobe to test his plugin and include it in LR, that would be somethin.

"People like to know it's built in"

Too true. A lot of users are surprisingly reluctant to use Lightroom plugins. I hope Adobe (and plugin authors) can find a way to support plugins such that even cautious non-techie newbies can take advantage of them without feeling precarious... - I'll make a separate FR...

The plug in the Jeffrey linked for you works fine. I know I use it frequently.
Maybe if you used Lightroom instead of flooding the forums with your questions and suggestions you would find out what Lightroom can and cannot do and how really good it is.
As has been mentioned Lightroom is a new paradigm and in version 3. Photoshop today is at version 12 and has much, much more than version 4 did. (Doesn't come on floppy disks either now!!)
50k images may sound like a lot, I have taken more than half that amount this year and I don't shoot sports!! They are all raw files and get some high praise - my last 1metre long print sold for US$1600 all sharpened and processed in Lightroom.

I don't see it happening and don't want to swamp the feedback site with FRs either, but a way of importing Picasa ratings and Albums into Lightroom would be cool.

It is certainly doable, as this semi-automatic procedure demonstrates.

I have a lot of images managed by Picasa and plan to import them into Lightroom one day.

The user to user forum has a thread on this topic (from which I got the above link).

Have you asked Jeffrey if it's something he's looked into?

Jeffrey, is this something you have looked into?

P.S.: To answer your question: Yes, just recently. :)
