Lightroom: Photo settings and metadata comparison.

It is valuable to be able to compare the settings and/or metadata between two states of a photo or different photos.

There is a plugin that does this now, but native support would be better, and I'm anticipating obsolescing that plugin if Adobe implements a native edit-lock in Lr4.

Example use cases:
- Seeing the net differences in develop settings between two snapshots or two different points in the edit history. Even just to see exactly what auto-tone has done (to help those of us whose capacity for memorizing settings is less than the number changed by the auto-tone function).
- Compare settings applied to two different photos.
- Compare metadata on disk against catalog to resolve metadata conflicts.

  • OK using ChangeManager for this, but a native solution would probably be better.
