I want my stackage in collections the same as my stackage in folders.

I'd be perfectly happy to handle this via plugin, if the requisite functions were added to SDK, although I imagine some people would prefer this option in Lightroom, natively.

Bonus points to anybody who can come up with the SQL required to accomplish this, then I could just add it to SQLiteroom, as a work-around solution.

You mean you don't like this new Lightroom 4 feature?

I'm not sure if you're teasing or genuinely asking for clarification, but in case the latter:

Presently you can create stacks in folders and/or create independent stacks in collections. I just want the collection stacks to be the same as my folder stacks without me having to do anything (or at least be able to automate that via a plugin).

eh?

See this thread for others who agree with Rob, including me:

In response to a number of skeptical people asking about motivation for the LR 4 stacking design, Adobe employee simonsaith said this, "It [was] implemented as a JDI item intended to be used by another feature that did not made the final cut of LR4. I could not comment more on that at this point."

A lot of people asked for stacking to be improved in LR3, and the new LR4 feature, if in response to those requests, is nothing short of hilarious! Ha ha!

It's worse than I thought:

If you have a collection in a collection set, and select the collection and stack some stuff, when you view the collection set, the stuff won't be stacked, and you can't stack stuff in a collection set view.

Argghhhhh....

I have added the feature: "Stacks in folder collections to match stacks in folders proper" to my Folder Collections plugin, which mirrors folder hierarchy in collections panel for access in Develop Module:

This capability could have been made into an independent plugin, but wasn't, yet anyway... - excuses available upon request...

It's clunky, but it works well enough for me, for now...

Cheers,
Rob
