Lightroom: Mobile syncing problem

Hi guys,

Desperately trying to get Lightroom Mobile and syncing to work.

My problem: Even if I made a collection in the LR Desktop app and sync it (wich it says it has), it will not appear under any circumstances at my LR Mobile app. Nor the other way around.

I signed in using the same Adobe ID, I have a subscription, but nothing.

In the LR Mobile app after syncing in LR desktop, it still says 'No collection available. Enable sync in LR desktop to get started.'

I have taken all the necessary steps (enabling every possible setting)... signed in using the same ID, but nothing, no collections sync at all.

Any suggestions... ?

Ray
PS: Don't reply and say make a fresh install or something like that. That's the first thing everybody says...

If you go to http://lightroom.adobe.com and sign in there, can you see the desktop collections or the mobile ones?

No, it (lightroom.adobe.com)actually says, you have no sync collections.

If I look at the prefereces of the LR desktop app it says: Uploads: 25 photos synced

In desktop preferences, press the Delete All Data button.

I might sign out, reboot and sign in again, just for good measure.

And then try it again. Something certainly sounds odd.

Hi Victoria.  Tried this option but delete all data is grayed out.  No options to sync with lightroom mobile.

Victoria,

Do you know why I can't choose my existing collections to sync? Only if I make a new one, do I get that little box.

You should get the box on any existing standard collection, but not smart ones or collection sets. Any chance of a screenshot if that's not what you're seeing?

Okay, got it. I only have smart ones and collection sets. So, I am out of luck.
Again thanks for the quick reply. Wish Adobe would add that feature, plus key wording on the go. Actually, that would be my first request!

cheers... Have a great day!

Sorry if this repeats, but not sure previous attempt to post successful. I have same problem Raymond had...only deleting didn't work for me. Closed/re-opened both desktop and mobile. No luck. Even reinstalled mobile. No luck. LR says photos are synced, but mobile doesn't show. What shows is: "no collection available. Enable sync in LR desktop to get started." Well, syncing IS enabled and desktop says photos are synced.

June, check the website as I suggested to Raymond in his first post, and just see if they show up there or not. That should help determine whether it's a problem uploading or downloading.

There were no photos on website. Found this out when Adobe tech support directed me there. Then he took over my screen and basically did everything I had done. Nothing worked at first, but after yet another delete and then the creation of a new collection, synching worked again. Tried then with existing collection...working with that too. So, don't know why hiccup happened and why my deletes didn't help and then suddenly, it did. Just glad it did! Thanks for your input.

I've been able to sync, but they always stop at around 390 images. Is there a limit to the number of images that can sync? I was hoping to sync a large number. I have plenty of room left (4gb) on the iPad, so it isn't storage space...

I've created collections several times, reloaded the app, tried everything but it always stalls after syncing for a while.

I just completely re-imported the whole collection again. It created all of the smart previews during the import process, but it did the same thing - stopped importing at 391. The next image to be imported on the desktop says "Building previews for Lightroom Mobile", but no action after about 30 minutes. Where would I go to see an error message?

You could send us a log. Lightroom preferences/Lightroom mobile
then press the alt button and select the "Generate diagnostics log".

Does it btw help to enable/disable sync for that collection?

thanks,
Ignacio

I tried to enable/disable the collection a few times. I also tried different collections. No luck. Where do I send the log file?

I think I fixed the problem. I went into preferences/Lightroom mobile and deleted all content / signed-out and then started all over. Something must have gotten jacked-up during my first attempt and corrupted the sync. Now that I've cleared everything it seems to be syncing OK.

No, there's no limit Jim. I've tested up to 10,000 so far, but I know it's been tested much much higher than that. When you say it stops at around 390 images, what exactly happens? And what stops - desktop or laptop?

The iPad syncs quickly, then just stops. The desktop says "Syncing 2,704 photos". In the preferences box it says "3,487 photos synced". The math seems a little off.

I am having the same issue. It has worked many times. On friday we synced a gallery to mobile. Desktop shows all images have synced but on mobile it stops at 580 every time! We have uninstalled lightroom on mobile, restarted mobile & desktop, cleared everything everyone says to clear, signed out and in on both devices. Online it shows all the images except after 580 the images are all black.. Any idea what is happening?

Hi Victoria,

Love your book btw. I have LR5.4 already installed via Adobe CC and have installed LR Mobile on my Ipad. I can open the ipad app and log into my Adobe ID there, but I cannot get LR 5.4 desktop to log on. I get an error message that "Lightroom has experienced an unexpected Sign In Failure. Please try again later. (attempt to index a nil value)"

This has been going on for days now. Any clues?

I tried to go to the lightroom/adobe.com site and it tells me I need to download LR 5.4 But it is already installed and running, as well as listed in my CC apps as up to date.

Stumped! Any help appreciated.

Cheers
D

Thanks, but which of the boxes in the "Sharing" system pref should be ticked/ at present none are ticked. And if I enter the computer name the close system prefs it simply deletes the computer name and goes back to a blank entry.

Cancel that sorry. It has now decided to take the computer name entry and save it.

There's a screenshot on this page which might be more helpful. http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...

If that still doesn't work, a screenshot of yours might help.

Somehow I can't upload all the 4312 photos and i checked that there is a 2 GB limit for storage on the trial version. Would you know if the full photos are uploaded or just a smaller version?

I've tried all of the above, more than once. Do not show on web or in Lightroom Mobile (on a mini ipad). Lightroom desktop counts down the number of photos it is syncing (i've only tried 5 to check all OK). They are jpegs. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. latest version of LR. (5.7)

I kinda have the same problem. At work now so I can't test delete all sync data. But I managed to sync 5 collections right away the 1st time I tried it. But now I've synced to more and none of them show in the mobile app. They show online though.

In the mobile app, I have the ... inside the cloud and if I press on it it says syncing... but it's been hours and no new collection have shown. I'm on wifi, and it's less than 100 pictures.

If you are still having the problem to sync from Lr Desktop to LrMobile, please send me a LR Desktop diagnostig log - best as a private message with a downloadable dropbox link.

You can trigger the log via LR Desktop preferences -> Lightroom Mobile and when you hold down the alt key you will notice a generate diagnostic log button
