Question: Is it a collection, or a collection set? :

Answer: Both, sorta... Let me explain:

It was a collection, which was deleted, and then in short order (via a plugin), a collection set was created with the same name. Seems not all parts of Lightroom "got the memo".

Note: the transaction to delete the collection was complete, and a new transaction was used to create the collection set. By transaction I mean a call to catalog:withWriteAccessDo.

I'll be working on working around this, but I thought you might want to know...

Yeah, it's not 100% reliable - not sure it works on Mac. I think it's a legacy of when a collection could be a child of another.

Any elaboration of what *it* is, would be appreciated, especially work-around'ing...

I have been able to work around this problem successfully by removing all photos from the collection before deleting it, and then creating collection set of same name.
