Lightroom: Import gets stuck with videos

Whenever I have a video, Lightroom gets stuck at the "Copy and import photos" phase. Cancelling the import (by clicking the little "x" next to the progress bar) will leave Lightroom in a state where no further import can be attempted.

A quick look at the destination folder shows that the video file was actually imported (and its MD5 sum is the same as the origin file, so it got imported properly). However, the temporary folder ("Temporary Folder XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX") doesn't get cleaned up and also holds a full copy of the file that fails to get imported.

If several video files are there, only the first one gets copied this way.

This happens with MOV files from my Canon S95 and my Canon 5D Mark II. It also happens on two different machines (Macs running Lion or Snow Leopard).

I have Lightroom 3.6 but this has been happening since at least v3.5 (possibly v3.4).

Bringing up this thread again. I'm working with Lightroom 5.6 and had this same issue. What I did to resolve it was delete the temporary folders, close down LR, log off then back on, restart LR, and re import. It took a LONG time, but it finally came in.
