Lightroom: Folder synchronize command can show confusing information.

Hi, I just found a strange behaviour in Lightroom 5 that confused me so I thought I'd share it.

While doing a Synchronize command on a folder I got the alert that some files were not in my catalog. I synchronized the folder which brought up the import window but it had no images showing. I tried synchronizing with a couple of folders that were showing the same issue and had the same result.

After much troubleshooting I found out that sub folders a few levels deep into the folder I was synchronizing contained some text documents (retouching notes). These were the files showing up in the synchronize window as files not in my catalog. Lightroom was giving false positives on text files. After removing those files the synchronize alert showed no files to import, as it should.

I think this can confuse people so maybe Lightroom should't read files that are not image or video files when synchronizing. It should be intelligent enough not to count other files as files to import.
