Lightroom: Provide easier updates

I'd really like it if Lightroom were easier to update, using the program updater interface to automatically download updates and revisions, installing them into the existing folders/file system. The process of having to download an installer package and manually install it is a bit "old-school". Surely there's a better way (using tech that you already have!)

With the downloads getting bigger each time, I can see that becoming more of an issue for those on limited bandwidth too. Integrating them into the main Adobe Updater would be brilliant, if it's possible.

I would not agree 100% with this proposal.

Sure it is annoying to have to download the whole program again (hello iTunes!!). It would be nice to just download the 'bits' you need to upgrade.

But LR is essential to my workflow so I usually stay 1 or 2 steps behind the upgrade process just in case anything goes wrong. Nowadays, I sometimes think software companies use their customers as a second line of beta testers and I hate being forced to upgrade without my permission (hello Firefox!!)

I'm on LR 3.3 at the moment and LR 3.4 and LR 3.4.1 do not add anything useful for me.

I wouldn't worry too much about it becoming fully automated - even the Adobe Updater allows you to choose WHEN to download and install, so you could still stay 1 or 2 steps behind if you wanted to do so.

You are prbably better giving it a couple of months, rather than not updating.
If you think about, E.g. Lightroom 3.6 is currently in Beta, that would indicate that Adobe consider Lightroom 3.5 to be stable and will not make any more adjustments,

I'm with Victoria on this, in fact I'm surprised it isn't already in the Adobe Updater.

I would like to see better intergration of the Adobe Updater in Creative Suites to Include Lightroom, and possibly Community Help.

Although Lightroom is not part of the Creative Suit, it could possibly check for other Adobe products so all updates are in one place.

Updates.

Are you suggesting you want Community Help to use Adobe Updater, or that Lightroom should use Community Help?

I am suggesting having one update location for your products.

At the moment I Update Lightroom from Lightroom and Everything else from the Creative suite software.

It would be nice if I could say open Bridge, and choose Update, and it would show all products that could be updated (Lightroom, Bridge, Help Files, Dreamweaver, Acrobat etc..)

Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying.
