Lightroom Data and IPTC standards

I find inconsistencies in IPTC data fields among IPTC, Lightroom and Photoshop. Within Lightroom they are presented differently in the Metadata tab and the Edit Metadata Presets. There is no documentation of these fields or field properties as field length. It would be helpful if Adobe's definition of IPTC fields were consistent with the IPTC standards and at least consistent within and across Adobe applications.

If one wanted to carry the idea of strengthening the Lightroom database further, it would be great if there was a way to exchange data between, for example, an Excel spreadsheet and Lightroom or MS Access or an SQL database and Lightroom.

Richard - consider separating this feature request into two, so it can be handled better by Adobe, and other users offering feedback..

Rob, thanks. You are right, but I don't know how I would do this. Can I edit my original comment after it is published?
