Lightroom: Crashes after finding nearby missing files

Lightroom crashes after finding nearby missing files 5-10 times.

I have a couple thousand missing files after moving them in to subfolders outside of lightroom (they are panoramas that got moved in to a unique subfolder for each panorama) So I have to go through the "find missing file" dialog a few hundred times. I have the "find nearby missing files" checkbox checked. This works fine for a number of times. However it often crash after between 5 and 15 times of finding sets of files. The number of nearby files ranges from 1 - 250 (depending on how big the panorama is) When I restart lightroom, and redo the one that caused the crash there is no problems (until 5 or 10 later)

I'm using lightroom 3.5 on windows 7 x64 on a dual xeon workstation with 48GB of RAM

does anybody have any suggestions on how better to debug this for reporting to Adobe?

This seems to be fixed somewhere in Lightroom 5.x (might have been 5.0 not sure)

This is NOT fixed in LR CC 2015.1.1

I created a lightroom library on my macbook while on a trip. The library was on a separate USB drive. I plugged the drive into my main PC computer that has my master lightroom library. When I attempted to import the trip library it was added to the main LR library but I then received a message that the images had not been copied. I transferred the images manually and then had to relink the "missing" images. I can relink 2 folders of images in succession, but lightroom crashes on the 3rd or 4th attempt.

So LR couldn't copy the files and then it can't link them. Not too robust.
