Please include keystrokes to access all Lightroom commands or (even better) provide AppleScript support for Lightroom. I use it so much and would love to automate several things I do every day - it would save me so much time,

You're gonna have to bite the bullet and learn Lua I guess ;-).

Granted, not everything is doable via SDK, but a lot is.

What would be the first things you automate if Lr could be apple-script'd?

I already use Keyboard Maestro to limp by. The fact that Lightroom requires mouse clicks to access some of its features and commands makes scripting difficult. If I could do everything though hotkeys life would be simple.

The first thing I would do is to create a script to make 4 virtual copies of the selected image and then crop each of them in a different aspect ratio. Next I would manually review each image and position the crop to display the best composition. Then I would run another script to save each of the 5 photos (the original plus the virtual copes) with pixel dimensions optimized for different monitor sizes.

It would save me time each month in creating my free desktop wallpapers I make available on my website.

Thanks. Unfortunately you've picked something not supported by the SDK (cropping) - ugh..

Adobe added a method to SDK recently for creating virtual copies, and it works "well enough" in the library module (not the develop module - ugh #2).

There exists plugins now which can automate the 5-size export (or publish).

So, you could partially automate now, but more complete automation would require fortification of SDK (or a clever workaround..).

Anyway, I get that you want a higher level of automation than Lua/SDK, but it's worth knowing what you can/can't do now with the current level of support.

Cheers,
Rob
