Lightroom/Photoshop: Support for bigtiff file format

Since Lightroom does not (and might not ever?) support psb files, there is no easy way to catalog large images (ie, < 10,000 pixels on a side, but more than 4 GB of data).

If Lightroom and Photoshop supported Bigtiff (to which Photoshop engineers have contributed, http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh... ), then this would partially fix a glaring hole in the compatibility and capability of Photoshop family products. This would also allow users to move away from proprietary file formats, which is always a good thing.

Photoshop CS6 will read BIGTiff, but can't write it (ran out of time because testing big files takes a while).

Thx. (I wrote a long appreciative and ironic response, but it got erased when I logged in. So just "thx")

Hello, has this gone any further in photoshop? Will we ever see BigTIFF read and write support in the near future?
