Lightroom 5: Selecting photos in publish collections doesn't make them selected in filmstrip.

Selecting photos in publish collections doesn't make them selected in filmstrip.

I first noticed this (and reported it) during the Lr5 beta, but it's still in the final 5.0 release.

So BEWARE: if you do something like edit or delete photos after selecting them in publish collections, that something may happen to the wrong photos.

Workaround: Select in filmstrip instead.

This was supposedly fixed in Lr5.2 RC, but is not fixed, not in my copy anyway...

Some cases of it seem fixed but not others, I filed a specific case here http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh...

This one has my vote for most annoying bug in Lr5, especially coupled with these other bugs:

* Photos get marked for republish when they shouldn't be.
* Lr5 over-consumes resources (ram) when unmarking for republish (so doing more than a few thousand will bring machine to it's knees).
* Even after unmarking for republish, most of them return to marked for republish state again (takes a while for them to trickle back in), and it therefore takes multiple passes to unmark for republish.

I shudder every time I visit my published collections.

Publish Service Assistant (esp. @v3.3+) is very handy for working around current bugs in Lr5 publish collection handling (@v5.2RC):

* New feature to select photos in filmstrip corresponding to photos in modified section, already published section, or both. Note: it selects all photos in the section(s), since, well, it can't tell what's selected, due to the bug!
* Old feature improved, works when Lr's native feature sometimes does not: unmark for republish.

After brief spot-check, this bug appears fixed in 5.2 (final release). Anybody still having problems?

Problem occurred again in Lr5.2 (final release) - when selecting photos in 'Deleted Photos to Remove' section, corresponding photos in filmstrip were not selected.

I believe this problem is fixed @Lr5.3.
