Navigator panel stuck on last photo with lightroom 5 and when using my previous presets the basic panel on the develop module changes to a previous version of lightroom. Has recovery, fill light instead of hightlights, shadows, etc. With lightroom 4 you would get a triangle with an exclamation mark to fix it but not with this lightroom 5.

The Triangle with the Exclamation Point is no longer used in LR 5. The new indicator is a small lightning bolt just below the histogram on the right hand side.

As far as some presets changing the basic panel, this is normal if the preset contains the Process Version as one of its checked items--PV2010 has the older sliders, and PV2012 has the newer ones. In LR4 at least, there is a warning when you created a preset that suggests it is a good idea to include the PV so some of your presets probably do include this. If your presets don't actually remember any of the PV-specific items, like the Basic panel sliders, then you may want to recreate the preset without the PV setting as one of the remembered items and if the preset needs to have the PV remembered, perhaps rename the preset to contain PV2010 or PV2012 as part of its name so you know which ones are going to change the basic panel sliders.

The Navigator panel getting stuck is a different issue. It could be a video-driver problem due to outdated video drivers, or it could be something LR is actually losing track of.

When this latter condition occurs, are the edits you apply going to the correct image, just the navigation panel shows the wrong thing, or are your adjustments being applied to the image in the navigation panel even though the current selection in LR is another image?
