Lightroom 5 - "Merge to HDR Pro in Photoshop" does not work with Photoshop CC 2014

Background:

I upgraded to Photoshop CC 2014 the day that CC 2014 programs were released; however, my installation of Lightroom 5 is not via CC, but instead was installed as a standalone application as I have upgraded from LR3, to LR4, over the years, and I am now on LR 5.5.

Problem:

Today I tried to use the "Merge to HDR Pro in Photoshop" option within LR. After selecting three images, right clicking and going to Edit -> "Merge to HDR Pro in Photoshop", Photoshop CC 2014 starts up, but the HDR Merging process never begins, in fact, nothing appears to happen.

However, if I select the option File -> Automate -> Merge to HDR Pro, within Photoshop CC 2014 and then select the three .NEF files, the merging process works fine.

Thank you for that solution. Although the issue described at that link is not the same as the issue I experienced, the resolution provided at that link corrected the issue I was experiencing.
