I thought Lr5.6 would have the graduated filter brushes, like ACR8.6 - they're not in my copy, else I'm too stupid to figure out how to use them..

Perhaps the idea is that LR 6 might have added features, but ACR is getting them sooner because it is part of the Cloud which promises continuous innovation as a benefit for continuous payment. In other words, LR 6 is when people have to pay more, again, so that is when you'd expect the new features.

So, it's not just me - nobody is having the grad brushes in Lr (5.6), not even the cloud subscribers who are getting their Lr via the cloud, as part of their subscription, right?

Adding LR to PS-CC lets Adobe get photographers as Cloud customers.

LR via the cloud is still just LR with different licensing, it's not a different version with different feature release rate.

So, to be clear: Lightroom 5.6 does NOT support the brush-enhanced grad filter, period. - is that correct?

Not that I can tell. There is no Brush-anything when Gradient is selected in LR like there is in ACR, nor does the cursor change when the Shift, Ctrl, or Alt keys are pressed, which is one way to sneak in feature variations that aren't on any menus, but no such luck.

Basically the same answer as Steve posted in his first response.
