It's possible something in your preview cache was corrupted. No worries - you can delete the preview cache and Lightroom will rebuild it, although it may take some time, depending on the size of your catalog.

To delete the preview cache, do this:
1. Go to Catalog settings (under Edit menu on Win, under Lightroom menu on Mac)
2. On the General tab, next to the catalog location, click the Show button.
3. This will open a Finder or Explorer window with the catalog folder selected.
4. Open the catalog folder.
5. Find the folder named Previews.lrdata and delete it. (note, you may also have a folder named Smart Previews.lrdata. You shouldn't need to delete that one.)

Note, you will probably need to quit Lightroom before deleting the previews folder. The OS will tell you if this is the case.

Once the preview folder is deleted, restart Lightroom. You may see gray thumbnails in the grid for a few moments as Lightroom starts rebuilding your preview cache.

Hope that helps.
