I updated lightroom 5.3 to 5.4. After this if i export a RAW (NEF) file to JPG the JPG is darker. This makes my editing useless. please help. The answer i got in the forum is no use it has nothig to do with the raw file, the export does not work correctly any more.

What are you viewing the exported photo in? Reimport it into LR and compare them at 1:1 view and see if they're still different. If they are, we'll need examples.

I am viewing the JPG in windows photo viewer. There it appears darker kan the edited RAW file(NEF) in lightroom. I'll reimport and let you know asap.

If i import the JPG file in LR5.4 it does not seem darker.
Still it does in windows photo viewer. But i made a mistake thinking this was not the case in LR5.3.

The JPG i exported in LR 5.3 earlier is on comparison equally darker in Windows photo viewer.

I had not noticed it before. Sorry for taking your time!! The problem is not LR5.4 but photo viewer.

Was there ever a solution to this? I am having the same issue. Incredibly annoying.

To clarify, I don't think this problem can be blamed on Windows Photo Viewer. Photos I process in lightroom look darker everywhere. I post them online (darker). I view them on my phone via dropbox (darker), Even if Adobe can argue its own color representation is the most accurate, what is it worth if it looks darker everywhere else in the known universe?

Have you calibrated your monitor, and if so how?
