Nice. What happens with the new features if I use 5.2RC with Photoshop CS6 and ACR 8.2RC?

The new features will be properly rendered, but not editable in CS6/ACR.

Creative Cloud members must remain out in the cold, for now? until final release??

Your not out in the cold, just download it like you used to download programs before the creative cloud, after all it's only a release candidate and not the final version.

The question arose regarding licensing differences - I know I can install the release candidate. What I didn't know was whether it would cause a conflict when installing the final release via the cloud afterward, i.e. after having installed the downloaded release candidate.

Once you've installed the CC version of Lr5, the licensing is taken care of.
We’ve stamped our approval on the hard disk, so you can go ahead and install the RC. The RC build will expire at the end of September, but we will have released 5.2 final by then, so you can plan to upgrade once that becomes available.

When released you can install the 5.2 full release via the CC manager.

After holding out on an upgrade from LR3 to LR4 for so long, I made the jump straight from LR3 to LR5 fairly soon after it came out. I immediately started to see the Post crop vignette bug in the Develop module.

I can report that this seems to be fixed in the RC. I did some checking within the catalog and the pictures I browsed in the Develop module genuinely don't have the Post crop Vignette step.

The most worrying thing about the bug was that when you tried to Undo or step back to an earlier history step, you started to lose the editing steps (and the Post crop vignette would still be sitting at the top of the history stack!). By querying the catalog with SQLite I was able to find these pictures as they did have a Post crop vignette history step with a value 0. I then had to manually re-do the editing using LR. Adobe could perhaps have supplied a tool to help find affected photos - or put them in a special collection you could delete after fixing them.

It would also be helpful to have a clearer message about how we should move from LR5.2 RC to the proper LR5.2 when it comes out. WIll I just install over the top or have to do more juggling?
