Lightroom 4 / Process 2012: With Adobe defaults, are there tonal changes for JPEGs, TIFFs, etc.?

As far as I understand, PV 2012 has automatic highlight recovery always active, even when all sliders are set to zero (adobe defaults).

However, a JPEG, TIFF etc. has no highlights to recover because there is no invisible "headroom" in the image data.

So the question is: Will PV 2012 apply any tonal changes to JPEGs, TIFFs etc. when Adobe defaults are set?

Some tests that I made would indicate the answer NO (same as PV 2010), which would be reasonable IMHO. Is this really the case?

PV10 and PV12 at defaults should be virtually identical, even on raw files.
