I cannot import raw files from my d800 which have been converted to DNG with Adobe's DNG converter. Currently using LR 4.1 and ACR 7.1. I tried the original nef files as well with no luck. Lion 10.7.4 on Retina Macbook Pro. both versions of the files work in PS CS6. Converting my files worked great before (I use Mac's Preview).

*Mac preview for import, DNG converter for conversion.
Also not using liveview for the photos.

If you use Finder instead of Mac Preview do the files work any better?

Are you sure you've updated LR to 4.1?

Mount the camera as an external drive, how ever you do that on a Mac and a Nikon, and try Finder. The camera would need to be in Mass Storage mode if it has a choice of USB-connection settings.

You also might try posting a public download link for one of the non-working files, here, and let others make sure it's corrupted for them, too. If you don't have your own large-file-webspace, then use something like www.dropbox.com or www.yousendit.com.

Are you using the DNG Converter 7.1, too, or something earlier?

And are you using a version of NX2 that is new enough to be explicitly compatible with the D800? Older versions of Nikon Transfer will corrupt newer Nikon camera files by changing or removing information in the headers that makes the unrecognizable to Adobe software, which looks for certain things to identify the camera model.

figured it out. i use an ex hd for all my photos and somehow the permissions changed so i could not create a folder that was not allowing the import to occur. not sure how that happened...
