Just installed Lightroom 4 (from LR3) and have tried to select Book module and the progam constantly crashes every time I do.....Other modules appear to be working properly. Only the Book module is shutting down the program.

Mac OS X 10.7.3
iMac, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz, memory: 2GB

I wonder if the type engine being initialized is causing a problem. Have you verified your fonts in Font Book or culled your fonts to see if there's a problematic font?

Do you have the details from the crash report, so we can see where it is crashing?

I removed the fonts that were giving me errors--still the same issue.

Here are the details from the crash report (started LR, went to Book module, got the error, tried to change module):

Thanks! That console log should help the Lightroom engineers track it down, and match this with related issues.

But the crash report (the detailed one from the crash report dialog) would be even more useful.

Good news! I resolved the issue. It turns out the Font Book is not so good at removing my two sets of corrupt fonts. Yes, spoke too soon. It was hanging (I didn't notice).

I had a heck of a time deleting the first set (my UNIX is not what it used to be). The second set I wasn't able to delete at all, but I was able to disable it. Once I did, the Book module worked like a charm.

Now if someone can tell me how to delete files in /Library/Fonts, I'd be greatly appreciative.

BTW, I spent one and half hour with Adobe customer support today trying everything under the sun. Frankly, I wish I had been talking to Jeffrey Tranberry instead.

Regardless, I hope my crash report will help LR4 deal better with corrupt fonts.
