Sorry,

I don't find a reasonable way to change the paper size. Esspecially when I already selected one of the templates which is based on "Letter", I later want to change the paper size to DinA4.

Always go in this order:

1. Set paper size in the Printer Driver.
2. Then choose a Template in the Templates that match that paper size.

Thank You, but unfortunately this does not work for me.

My printer only uses DinA4 but always when I select a new template I get "Letter". (I checked the printer driver, its also set to DinA4)

It is also interesting that there is no way to access the printer settings in LR without actually starting a print job. Something is missing here - other programs do have a "Page Setup" or "Printer Setup" function.

Its PC, and the printer is a HP Officie Jet 800.
I would not be surprised if the paper size the printer reports is slightly off - the software needs to have a little security margin to account for rounding errors.

The description in the printer setup says 210+297 mm. I tried to change that that to 210*296 - but LR will always use Letter when I choose a new template.

When I then open the print dialog, the printer tells me it wants to use "Letter", although I had changed the global defaults and restarted LR.

I guess the problem would be solved, if the edit field "User defined Size", which is available when creating JPEGs, would be available for printing as well.

I just noted - the LR5 beta does not have this problem anymore and now also a button to access the printer setup. Simple change, but effective.

LR4 has a Page Setup box to click on on the LH bottom side of the Print module. If you go into that and select your printer at the top, click on Properties, you can set all the variables of your printer - paper, size, etc. When you have then set the margins etc in the Print RH panel, you then save all those settings as a new Preset that will appear in User Presets in the LH panel, below the standard presets.

I have loads of different user presets for different papers, different sizes, cards, etc, and if you want to change a user preset slightly, just rightclick on it and update settings.

Unless you update the standard setting with your changes, it will always revert to the settings that it was saved with.

Hope that helps.
