The Nikon D4 is supported by LR 4.3 and ACR 7.3.

Your files are likely corrupted. Using Nikon Transfer V1 can cause problems. This utility can fix NTV1 corruption:

The Nikon Transfer V2 that is built into ViewNX2 doesn't corrupt NEFs.

Try downloading a file from the internet and see if it works, to test whether it is a problem with the files from your camera or a problem with your installed software:

You're also welcome to upload a file to somewhere like http://www.dropbox.com/ and then post the public download link, here, for others to take a look.

Hello Steve
I'm using the built in Nikon Transfer in ViewNX2 (Latest update).
My files may be corrupted or something is not set correctly in the camera, (3 days old), but I'm able to se the pictures in ViewNX.
I have uploaded a NEF file in my DropBox /public files.
I'm also able to import the NEF file you linked to.

For others to take a look at your sample NEF, you need to post the public download link for it.

I see you've solved the problem, but to answer your question, go to your dropbox folder right-click on the file and choose Drop Box / Copy Public Link, or go to the website version of your dropbox and maybe the same thing works, although I usually just do it from my PC.

Are you importing from a card or directly from the camera?

From the camera via the USB that came along with the camera. But I'm using the new XQD card. (It isn't any cardreader for them yet - I'm told).

New observations: I tried bothfor the CF card and the XQD card to import straight from the camera into LR4,3. The CF via the PC card reader and XQD via USB. The same "old" pictures". And that worked.... Does the latest ViewNX 2.6.0 transfer utility add any fun to the files? Do you know?

The Nikon Transfer proposal from Steve lead me the right way. Actually I have both the old Nikon Transfer ver 1,5 installed as well as ViewNX2. When I insert my CF card it auto opens the OLD version which I then used. I was not aware of that.
I think we can concider the mystery as solved. Thanks!
