I did not see a solution to the problem. How do I rollback to Lightroom 3.5?

What OS are you on? Do you have any 3rd party plug-ins?

Windows XP, no plug-ins. I am a new Lightroom user, but when since I downloaded the upgrade to 3.6, after 15 minutes of use, the program is stuck in the library module stating "loading". I thought if I can revert back to 3.5 simply, I would do that to solve the issue.

That may be a workaround, but we should probably get to the root of what's going wrong.

I've seen a handful of posts on this issue, but no one has offered a workable solution, but if we can ID the problem, fine with me.

OK, I can no longer launch the program, not even from the executable lightroom file.

Do you mean you've got a black rectangular "Loading..." indicator when Lightroom is loading a given image? (or did, since now it sounds like you're getting a hang earlier in startup than that) I take it that the app is also unresponsive while in this state?

What are the exact symptoms when you're unable to launch? Is it the same hang but now it just happens so fast you can't switch away or is the hang happening before the app even comes up now?

If the window is not visible, you may have a case where the lightroom.exe process is still stuck but with no window visible. That could cause a subsequent launch to get stuck or quit to avoid starting up 2 at once.

Yes, I receive the 'loading' indicator while loading a particular image, Lightroom is then hung. When it is hung, I cannot re-launch the program (your explanation makes sense - trying to launch when .exe still running). After shutting down I can launch Lightroom once again, but after period of time, the 'loading' indicator appears and program is hung.

Ideally, we want to get a stacktrace of the Lightroom process. It depends on what "symbols" are visible to us without Adobe supplying a PDB file whether or not this might be useful or not. I'll let Adobe folks weigh in on this.

WinDbg is a free tool from Microsoft that might help. See an overview of how to use this here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/How_...

This link talks about Firefox, but you can easily just substitute any executable (to a point) for Firefox.

I ran the debugger. I was able to launch Lightroom's .exe file through the debugger. I used the program for awhile and when it hung at 'loading' in the library module, I entered a 'break' in the debugger. The .log text file is a lengthy. What do I look for?
