Lightroom: 3.5RC bug - Sidecar file conflicts with .tif images

Any tiff files that I'm working with in LR 3.5RC are developing problems with their sidecar files. All tiff images show a metadata error that indicates that they have a sidecar file conflict, yet when I attempt to re-export metadata, there is no change to the conflict status.

It appears that this problem only arises when using SilverEfex 2 from Nik to process .dng files into .tif files - the resulting .tif file is saved correctly, but immediately indicates a sidecar file conflict.

Hi David,

I've forwarded this issue on for investigation, though this may not be a Lightroom problem, but rather another manifestation of Nik bugs with metadata handling (see this post here: http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh....

Thanks,
Ben

Make sure you've reported this problem to Nik also - they probably were aware of it, but may think they've fixed it adequately.

PS - If you have some techno-savvy, you may be able to use exif-tool to repair the images.

To Adobe: since this kind of problem may not completely go away, ever, I suggest some robustening of Lightroom handling:

- An informative error message when there are metadata handling problems...

As it stands, it often appears like Lightroom is just broken - no clue given...
