Is the volume connected? Available?

Are you able to access the Preferences dialog?

Thanks. I don't know what "volume" it is looking for. I have always only worked on the MacBook. Not off of other drives. I do have access to preferences but can find nothing in there that would change this. I'm not interested in accessing previous work. Only working on a new file. But it won't let me add photos. When I try to add a photo it gives me a small box that says: "Error. Error While Checking Disk Space"

Hi Roy, a few more questions to help us figure out what went wrong...

Were you using a location other than the default location for storing originals?
Did you make any hardware changes to your MacBook recently?

Would you mind taking a screenshot of what your Preferences>Local Storage panel looks like and sharing here?

Thank you!

No changes. Just Catalina and the latest update to Creative Cloud today. I haven't opened Lightroom in quite a while. Here's the screenshot. I'm not sure what it's looking for or what to adjust. Thanks

That's a really old Lightroom version, you need to update it.
