Lightroom UI Timing Problems on Windows

Note: these are not performance problems per se (though if LR was faster, they wouldn't manifest).  Instead, they lead to unexpected and sometimes frustrating results.

Catalog has ~10,000 images, mostly raw (Canon 5D2).

Windows 10 Intel Core i7 6900K, 32GB RAM, Geforce 1060, images and catalog on SSD.

Problem 1: In grid view, select an image.  Move mouse and shift+select to (attempt to) get a range of images (letting go of the button after the second click, of course).  Move the mouse again toward the menu or panels.  There seems to be a lag in responding to the shift+select, which is not an issue in itself.  The problem is that the UI appears to read the mouse coordinates direct from the mouse only when finally responding to the shift+select.  Invariably the mouse is now over a different image from the one intended.  Instead, the UI should use the coordinates delivered with the shift+select event rather than trying to determine the mouse coordinates after the mouse has moved again.

Problem 2: Select one or more photos in grid view.  Hit the Delete key to delete them.  Hit the D key to confirm full delete.  If the UI is responsive this behaves as expected.  However, there sometimes is a delay between receiving the Delete key event and putting up the confirmation modal dialog (not sure why).  During this time, the modality doesn't seem to have taken effect, and the UI switches to develop mode.  Then the dialog pops up.  If an event causes the UI to put up a modal dialog, it should be putting subsequent keyboard events into a type-ahead buffer until the dialog appears.  After importing a batch of images, I do a lot of culling and this is enormously frustrating behaviour.

First thing to do is turn off the GPU option on the Performance tab of the LR Preferences and test.
Also look at this article for a possible solution.

Thanks for the suggestions.  However, it made no difference.  Not surprising because this is a UI programming problem, not a performance issue.
