Lightroom smart collection not showing correct number of images in collection

I have a smart collection that says 0 for the number of images in it.  However, when I click on it I can see the images in it.  This caused me a great a deal of consternation (and lost time) trying to figure out why at first what appeared to be that it wasn't finding any matching images.  Then I happened to click on the smart collection at some point and saw the images were actually there.   After quitting and reopening it now shows the correct number of images in smart collection.  I was adding a tag to the sublocation field for selected images in the Map module when this issue started.

Lightroom on OS X Sierra, latest version of Lightroom.

Does it happen again when you repeat the Map module operation or did the problem disappear after restarting?

The issue comes back after restart.  I can tag maybe a hundred photos using the map module before the issue starts happening.  I just open and close Lightroom now to make it go away.   It doesn't happen with anything else I do other than applying keywords to photos in the map module which I don't do all that often.  So as long as the smart folders are working correctly (and they are) I'm not too concerned about it at this point.  I just threw me for a loop when I first encountered it.
