I would love to be able to use the slide show feature in Lightroom in Manual Advance mode while still having the ability to include a dissolve or cross-fade (or other) transition effect between images. Bridge allows this option, but when you select the manual option in Lightroom, all other transition effects gray out & turn off.

I agree, that would be a great feature.

In previous versions of LR (sometime before 5.3), the arrow keys could be used to advance to the next image in slide shows with automatic advance and transitions. But somewhere along the line, Adobe broke that functionality, and the arrow keys can only be used with manual advance shows. If they simply fixed the bug with the arrow keys, then you could set up a show with all the effects you wanted and pause/resume with the space key and advance/go back with the arrow keys.
