Lightroom: Shuffles photos on import on new Macbook Pro

I have a new MacBook Pro running Sierra 10.12.2.  Frequently, when I try to import from a Compact Flash card onto a (USB-C) external hard drive, all the photos appear on the screen in a random order instead of in chronological order -- making it impossible to select several photos in a sequence to import.  The only fix has been to trash the CF card (using card reader), reinsert the CF card into the card reader, and completely restart Lightroom.  Most of the time this fixes the problem.  However, if I import some photos then tap import again to import another sequence of photos, Lightroom shuffles them into a random order.  Any suggestions on a fix?

You ARE reformatting the card in-camera before every time you shoot, right?

In the Import dialog, have you tried setting it to Capture Time just below the Grid?

Yes, the sort is set to Capture Time prior to the import.

Thanks for your replies.  Carlos, Yes, I always reformat a new card prior to shooting with it.  I have never had the problem mentioned with my older MBP (late 2011) running either OS 10.7.6 or OS 10.11.6 with Lightroom CC.
Victoria,  Yes, the Sort is set to Capture Time prior to attempting to import.  Good suggestion, however.
