I am having an issue with my lightroom images where when I move the sliders in "Develope" such as exposure etc there is no visible change in my image so I can't see the effect of what I am doing to the image. Is there a setting to turn this function back on? Thanks.

There is an on/off button in each develop category, ie Basic, HSL, etc. in the upper left corner. It is a vertical 2 position switch. Did you possibly turn it off inadvertently? It's there so you can view your image with or without the changes you have made.
