I am using LR5.6 on W7, x64, op system and prog drive is a Samsung SSD, twin ATi V500 Fire cards, AMD 8-core CPU, 32gb ram.
LR crashes (screen freeze) and I have to hard reboot and restart windows. This happens sometime infrequently (perhaps every few weeks) then it goes through phases of happening every few minutes! This is caused by LR not something else - what's the fix please?

Are you doing lots of spot/cloning/brushing?

Rereading your description: Are you saying the entire machine is freezing and you need to reboot the entire system?

If the entire system is freezing, that's usually an indication that something at the OS/hardware level is failing (a bad video driver or video card, a failing hard disk or motherboard).

Hi - yes, I would tend to agree but it only happens when LR is running...I have checked with Fire V5800 issues and there don't seem to be any, also mix of SSD and conventional drives - again no issues I can find. Is there a way of getting a crash log from LR?

Since the OS is freezing, LR isn't actually 'crashing.'

Have you tried going directly to the card manufacturer to make sure you have the latest video driver? Have you tried running under a new Admin user account and/or run in Safe Mode?
