In Lightroom when you right click a photo you get a drop-down menu.  I'd like to see "rename photo" added to this menu along with all the other options.  Even more I'd like to able to move a photo both in the catalog and out on disk from this same drop down menu.

Although you can rename a photo in the Metadata panel, I agree  this should be a native way to do it in LR. I've intuitively tried many times to rename a photo by right clicking on an image only to remind myself I have to do the rename though the Mettadata panel. Which is an unnecessary PIA.

Press F2   (Function 2) to rename.

How is that for a "one digit"  PIA?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Add rename to Lightroom Classic contextual menu.

One of the most basic file organization tasks. Please add Rename to the contextual menu and include that in the develop module. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to rename a file.
