Lightroom Mobile sync bug

Problem: Iphone 7 Plus with 256gig wth latest updates and Lightroom App will not sync back to Lightroom CC, or at least appears to sync back only one photo every day or so. Over 100 Gig free on phone!

Workaround: Turn off screen lock on the phone and reboot the phone (using the two button approach).  Photos then sync back perfectly based on normal internet speed.

I tried all sorts of remedies, restarts, clear caches in the App, remove sync data on the iMac but nothing had worked until I accidentally noticed it working after a reboot.  As soon as screen locked everything stopped and remained so till next reboot.  The workaround allowed me to sync over 100 .dngs in a few minutes.

You are assuming that hitting clear cache is actually clearing the cache! Cacheson iOS are often very hard to clear. Try deleting the app itself, and say yes to delete all data. Then reinstall it. Sometimes that's the only way to clear the cache.

Not an option if the only photos from a Coldplay concert is on your phone in Lightroom Mobile :)

Huh? Open Lightroom on your computer, the photos are there too! That's what syncing does! Just turn on the auto add photos pref in LR Mobile.

Hi Steve,

Few queries :

1) In the initial step, when you said photos were syncing very slowly from your Lightroom mobile device to Lightroom CC, I assume that the uploading from Lightroom mobile was taking a long time. However, did you find any delay in the downloading process of images in LrCC (desktop) ?

OR , the second scenario;

2) If the upload was successful from LrMobile and if at all the download was taking a long time in LrCC (desktop), could you please let me know if the downloads were happening on other clients like LrWeb pretty quick?

3) Is this happening all the time , meaning you have to force reboot the device everytime in order to sync the photos from Lr mobile to Lr CC?

Scenario 1 - Upload from Lightroom Mobile to cloud (I looked at the cloud version to confirm) was actual not moving until the steps taken on the phone, after reboot it took a few minutes to start then it slowly started moving.  After that upload to cloud and download to Lightroom CC was quick.

For me, you are correct. The workaround works each time.  I have great respect for the product and the team so thought this information would be helpful in improving the product.  There should be a way to guarantee uploading constantly via mobile data (if allowed by the user) or just over wi-fi while the phone is locked and when the app is in background mode.
