Lightroom mobile sets 4:3 aspect ratio on import from Photos on iOS 9. Camera is Leica M240, latest firmware version, set to produce DNG files. Import to Photos using the Apple Lightning to SD card adapter, then import to Lightroom Mobile from Photos. Lightroom will render the photos in 4:3 aspect ratio instead of 3:2, causing significant image distortion.

Select a photo, go into the crop tool. The indicated aspect ratio is 3x2 or 2x3, and the photo renders properly in the tool. Exit crop without making changes, and it will appear that the photo now renders properly. However, if you select a different photo, then select the "fixed" one again, it is back to rendering in 4:3.

Now go into the crop tool, select aspect ratio, and select Original. Select the check mark to save changes, and now the image will render properly. I had to do this by hand with SEVERAL HUNDRED IMAGES. Please fix this.

Thanks for your reply! Not sure how to send you a private message. Here is a link:

I looked at the metadata of the files in Photos. In the iOS metadata the PixelWidth and PixelHeight are 160 and 120, which is probably the size of the low res thumbnail stored with the DNG, padded with black pixels at the top. I don't know if Lightroom is doing anything with those values, which do imply a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Has the DNG on Dropbox already been manipulated by LR and has the correct crop saved to it? I ask this because it seems to work ok in Windows Desktop LR 6.3 and Android LR Mobile:

Hi Steve,

The DNG is as imported from the SD card by the Photos app in iOS. It has not been imported by Lightroom Mobile. My guess is that something happens to it during the import process by Lightroom on iOS.

The issue is 100% reproducible with the M240, Photos, and iOS Lightroom Mobile. It is not intermittent In that environment.
