Lightroom mobile: No longer pre-loading editable smart previews

I've been using LRM the past month or so since buying a new fancy iPad pro 12.9". Workflow has been great: get home from a shoot, throw the RAWs into the desktop catalog, add to the active lightroom mobile collection, turn the iPad on and let it all sync while making dinner. Then later on I can edit my job in the car, parked while my son is napping. Only now, since the new update, smart previews no longer seem to be pre-loading. Any time I look to edit a new image I haven't clicked on before, when offline (wifi only ipad) it says it's only a thumbnail and the smart preview has not been synced. So, what gives? I can't find a setting for this within LR mobile - is this something that's changed on the desktop version? How do I force it to automatically sync/transfer editable smart previews initially? If I have to go through each new sync at home and manually force it to load that's a real pain in the ass and what seems like a big flaw in the app. Thanks.

In my experience, Smart Previews are never automatically downloaded to the iDevice unless a collection was specifically enabled for offline editing (in the collection's settings). If you haven't done that for your "active Lightroom collection" on your iPad, then the behaviour you're seeing when offline (i.e. thumbnails only, no SPs) is the expected behaviour. Check the settings for that collection, possibly/probably you didn't enable it on the new iPad.

Brilliant. Thank you, Jim. I don't know how I didn't see that option. Much appreciated.
