Lightroom mobile image sizes too small without downloading for editing

On the Android Tablet version of Lightroom mobile I find I need to enable a collection for offline editing, or have an active internet connection, in order for the images to be displayed correctly on my tablet screen.

Initially when I sync a collection it downloads thumbnails only, and these look fine in the grid view. But when you open up the image to display full screen (I'm on a Note 10.1, about 1280 x 800 pixels) the image isn't large enough to display cleanly.

To get around this you can wait for Lightroom Mobile to download the full image, or enable the collection for offline editing which takes extra space and adds a step to the syncing process. I was expecting that the default size images sent to the device would be large enough to display on the full screen, and enable simple rating.

Am I missing something here, does the iPad version work better than this? Enabling for Offline Editing is not a huge issue, but it just doesn't seem right

Yes. That is correct. You need to download them for offline or be online.
