Lightroom Ecosystem: Graphical & Image Based Watermarks on images

When outputting any image from Lightroom mobile directly to any service, the image needs to have, at minimum, a © NAME simple watermark placed upon it. I don't think we need full functionality of the Watermark editor in Lightroom desktop but we do need the minimum functionality of the Simple Watermark in Lightroom's Export dialog. Until there is a way to mark an image, why would anyone consider using LR mobile to post anywhere?

NOTE: The original post was a request for a simple, text based watermark which has been implemented. This thread will continue to be the place to vote for image based watermarks.

Edit: 1/21/2020  - This thread has been changed to represent all three of the Lightroom Ecosystem Clients (Desktop, Web, and Mobile)

Edit: 5/15/2020 - This thread has been updated to include information on new functionalities. Please see the official post below.

With Samsung Gallery, there's an option to add an image to an existing image. It is helpful if you want to add a logo to your photos. Can this be implemented on Lightroom Mobile?

Follow the steps below on Samsung.
1. Open an image
2. Click on Edit
3. Click on Decoration
4. Click on Add image
5. Gallery opens. Choose image (in this case logo)
6. Resize chosen image
7. Save

Come on it has been 3 years now. Implement the watermarking on desktop! For most companies it isn't so hard to listen to customers... Adobe seems to have a really hard time implementing features in Adobe Lightroom CC.

This is insanely pathetic! Adobe!!!!  People have been screaming for years for watermarking in Lightroom Desktop, 2 years ago we we're told its planned, and still nothing!!!????   Complete insanity,  I work in the aerospace industry and we design and field flight control software faster than you can add watermarking to an existing platform!!!!   Mind boggling!!

The ability to add a watermark on ALL Adobe Lightroom platforms (web, mobile, desktop) on ALL versions should be the second things on your list of requirements for creators. You have failed to protect us and our creations by not adding this. I am in shock actually. Get up to speed and protect your loyal members please.

I wish my Windows 10 PC Lightroom CC 3.2.1 has the same functionality my iPad and my phone has when exporting with watermark. Today I have to use my iPad or Phone to export with watermark to Instagram. I am not that professional, and I don't need classic

Hi guys, it's nice to see that there are watermark updates underway, I wanted to check with you about adding a watermark overlay option for shared galleries / client proofing galleries.

In the past I had been sharing galleries with clients so they could make selects. In a number of instances I have found that clients have right clicked or screen grabbed images which were then reposted to social media etc. In a number of cases these were images that were not ready to share outside of the client selection process.

As a workaround I was exporting and reimporting jpg images with a large watermark then running it through the slideshow module with file name overlay, then exporting and reimporting.

Finally, I would add this watermarked with file named image (that now has a different file name ie slide1.jpg) to a collection to share with the client.

COOL, the client can see the file name to make selects via e-mail or select via comment in their browser, they are also less likely to swipe and share images that aren't ready for public or unauthorized display. Also, graphic designers that screenshot an image have the file name right there so they can do mock-ups and easily tell me which image they will need for a final product.

UNFORTUNATELY, this negates the whole point of lightroom eliminating the need to have complex organization structures of duplicate images.
Also, since the slide show export option changes the file name, I'm stuck searching for each image visually to match .jpg selects with OG files.

This whole workaround process is time consuming before I share with the client, and once I hear back from the client.

I pay for a website that has proofing galleries etc, it puts a watermark and overlay on images in the browser. I would hope the Adobe team could implement something similar since the lightroom to client to photographer experience could be so much better than going to an additional website.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled LR should include the same Watermark system that is on LRc..

I’ve often thought that LR both on mobile and desktop was limited in what you can do, so I use LRc for everything and use LR for showing pictures to clients and friends when I’m out and about. But You make do with what you have.
But when you’re away from your office (like on holiday) and you don’t have your desktop with you and still want to post photos online, it would be nice to have the ability to watermark my images within LR. And not just a text based watermark. I can’t understand why we don’t have Image based watermarks on LR. Mobile or desktop.

That’s all I’m asking. And I’m sure thousands of other photographers would love the ability to do so as well.

I know that you can export photos into your phone and then use another watermark app... but we shouldn’t have to do that, when LR is actually such a great program. It’s strange that the image based watermark isn’t utilised.

Thank you for reading.

Yes, with Creative Cloud why can't we store images there to have in LR mobile? Or from our desktop or photos folder if we are on phone or tablet? This is crucial for those of us working on images remotely and sharing to social media.

Graphical watermark is not supported. The latest versions support text-based watermarks.
