Lightroom: metadata snapshots

Currently, Lr supports develop setting snapshots - that's good.

One can use snapshots to go back to final develop settings state whether user consciously manages xmp (manually) or not.

Metadata: no such ability to go back, except via xmp (or backup catalog of course).

I propose an option to create metadata snapshots too, like for develop settings.

That way if one finds they've got a five star photo which shouldn't be five stars (for example - this happens to me a lot when in develop module, I enter an amount for some setting but said setting doesn't properly have "edit focus" and '5' entered changes the rating), they can go back by selecting a previous metadata snapshot - just like for develop settings.

Of course, metadata snapshots should be fully exposed to SDK too.

I haven't thought this through thoroughly, but I think there are the seeds of a good idea here, don't you agree?

Thanks for listening,
