Lightroom Classic: Library, Grid View-There is unnecessary grey space.

Images have unnecessary grey space in grip view. I would like to see the images closer together. This would be helpful specifically when using smaller monitors and laptops.

Press the J key twice and see if you're happier?

The J key cycles through the view options. You are using Expanded Cells, which gives the biggest cells and so the biggest waste of space.

If you are thinking about the 'unnecessary' grey space at the top below the information and at the bottom above the star ratings however, then look at a portrait orientation image and then find (or create with the crop tool) a square image. You'll see it fills the entire area.

100% agree with this. When you as mass culling this library is useless. You could be able to see all the cells next to each other with the smallest border or even better a custom defined one as one option.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled LR Classic: Show Library Grid as a Photo Grid.

I'm sure this has been requested elsewhere but could not find one quickly searching.

In Lightroom Classic let me see my Library Grid as Photo Grid (as seen on new Lightroom).

When I'm going through my 240.000 photos in Lightroom Classic it would sometimes be so much nicer to see them more densely arranged side-by-side as seen on new Lightroom.

The Square Grid takes some much space away when I just want to see the photos and no metadata clutter next to the photo.

Is this a reasonable request to ask – or something that is easy to make in new LR but impossible in LR Classic?

I do love occasionally open up new LR and just browse the photos in my Synced Collections, as it is so nice.

Thanks!

Who merged my message with this topic? I think it's a mistake as this topic is about adjusting the marginals and space around the photo in the square grid called Grid View in Lightroom Classic (called Square Grid in new Lightroom) and I'm looking for a way to see a view for Library in Lightroom Classic with no-metadata-shown-next-to-photos view that is called Photo Grid in new Lightroom.

That kind of easy-to-browse and easy-to-glance view in Library doesn't exist in Lightroom Classic.

So, this topic is about the square view, but I'm talking about the non-square view for Library Grid in Lightroom Classic. It would be so useful when browsing a lot of photos.

Did you try to press the J key as suggested by Victoria? It will cycle to different grid view and one of them is without metadata.
Also, are aware of the cursor (at the bottom right) to ajust the prewiew display size? Reducing the preview display size results to more photo displayed.

There's a specific view that the op(anssik) has requested and no amount of adjustment in LR Classic can get you there. Screenshot below for a visual:

I think the bigger annoyance is that this feature exists in Lightroom CC. So why has it not been rolled out to Classic. It just makes me think more and more they are doing away with Classic.
