Lightroom: Lets have frequent bug releases for LRCC

I thought one of the ideas of the subscription service was so that improvements could be released as and when they were ready, without having to wait for a big release every 2 or 3 months. I'm fairly sure someone in Adobe said that.

So what happened? We are still waiting for the 2 or 3 month releases, same as those who bought the perpetual LR6.

Hi Robert,

Is there a particular bug you are encountering with Lightroom CC?

As far as release timing goes, here is the schedule of launches so far this year:

Lightroom CC 2015 - available April 21
Lightroom CC 2015.0.1 - available April 30
Lightroom CC 2015.1 - available June 15

Both 2015.0.1 and 2015.1 contained fixes for bugs reported by customers. I guess it remains to be seen whether you'll have to wait 2-3 months for additional updates in the future, but thus far that has not been the case.

Hi Becky,

Thanks for replying. My question is really as to why Adobe can't release frequent patches as some other software companies do, rather than major updates every 2 or 3 months. I'm sure someone in Adobe said we would get updates whenever they were ready if we were on CC. Was that just wishful thinking? OK we had one this time - an installation bug which was an exception and went to all LR users I think, not just CC users.

As to bugs that annoy me, well the slowdown in rendering previews is a big nuisance. I now close LR about every 30 mins and restart it. That keeps rendering going at its max speed (which is still slower than LR5). If I leave it overnight as I used to in LR5, its down to a crawl by morning!

Then there is the bug in backing up the catalog, which causes it to go into Not Responding state for a while. It does now eventually come out of this, but I am never quite sure whether it will.

I've almost given up hoping you would stop the cursor turning into a double-headed arrow when going into the panels, but that one has been in LR for aeons!

It often goes into a Not Responding (White-out) when I do lots of deleting images, and then start doing something else. It seems to 'get its knickers in a twist', and I have to leave it a while to recover, close it down and restart. Then its fine again.

And I won't mention Face Recognition!

All in all, this release of LR seems to be the most temperamental of all. LR5 was a model of good behaviour by comparison.

This is all on Win8.1, fast desktop with ssds and hdds and 32GB ram.

Please don't add any more features until you get the current ones working properly!!

Good luck in your bug-hunting,

Bob F.
